Ground Cherry, Goldie, 4" pot

Certified organically grown by Villageside Farm (Freedom, Maine). A member of the nightshade family, Ground cherries (or husk cherries) are a delightful, surprising fruit. Shrouded in a convenient papery husk, they grow low to the ground. When fruit is ripe, it gives way easily, and is sweet and slightly pineapple-ish in flavor. We love to eat these by the handful, or toss atop a fresh butter cake. Also very nice as a dried/dehydrated fruit.
