In the field
September 5, 3-7pm
Last summer, three DJs carried their record crates into the wildflower field at the back of Tenderwild Farm and spent an afternoon playing music with a single rule: no percussion. What followed — Brian Eno, whale-song field recordings, new age, jazz, and everything in between — was something the Midcoast Villager came out to document and ended up calling In the Field. Jordan Crosthwaite, Jesse Kivel, and Johan Churchill are all DJs in more conventional contexts, but this is the music they play when the setting allows for it: ambient, unhurried, and designed to be absorbed rather than consumed. A wildflower field in August is exactly the right setting. It’s back this season. Bring a blanket.
